Lavender Lemonade

Lemonade is oh so delicious but packed with a ton of sugar which is no good! Upwards of 25 grams of sugar just for a one cup serving. This puts you over your daily limit of sugar in just one glass of stinkin’ lemonade! I’ve seen a few lavender lemonade recipes but many still involve a ton of sugar! And just because it sounds healthier because the recipe involves lavender doesn’t necessarily make this lemonade any healthier – trust me its not. My recipe involves only four ingredients, along with water and ice of course, and in the total two quarts it makes it only contains about 17 grams of sugar! That’s about 3.5 grams of sugar per one cup serving. This recipe can be adjusted to have zero grams of added sugars for diabetics or those who wish to avoid the little bit of sugar from the honey. And might I add its delicious!

Ingredients

Makes 2 quarts of lemonade

  • 1 tablespoon dried lavender flowers
  • 6 cups of water
  • 1 tablespoon raw, unfiltered, unpasteurized, honey
  • Juice from 3 large lemons
  • 3 Stevia packets
  • 2 cups ice

Method of prep

  1. Bring the five cups of water in a medium saucepan to a boil. Once boiled, add the lavender flowers and take off the heat. Let this steep for about seven minutes, stirring occasionally.
  2. After the seven minutes add the honey and mix until it dissolves. If you are vegan, diabetic, or want to avoid any sugar you can omit the honey and add an extra packet of stevia in the next step.
  3. In your 2-quart container, add the juice from three lemons, stevia, and ice.
  4. Now that your lavender honey water has cooled a bit, take a small strainer, place it over the 2-quart container and strain the liquid into the container.
  5. Add more ice if necessary to top off the liquid.
  6. Let the lemonade cool before serving. You can taste it to see if you’d like it sweeter with more stevia. Once it tastes amazing, serve over ice with additional lemon wedge, and enjoy your guilt free, refreshing, and healthy lemonade!
