This homemade, from scratch hot chocolate is super rich, smooth, creamy, and will drown your soul in dark chocolaty goodness. I am a huge chocolate fan, especially dark chocolate. The hot chocolate packets on the market are sub par- usually far too sweet and never chocolaty enough for me. One mug of this cocoa and I have had my chocolate fix for a good week! I’ve concocted this recipe with a few simple ingredients, that make for a much more delicious, cleaner, and slightly healthier hot cocoa.
Ingredients
Makes two mugs of hot chocolate
2 1/2 cups of water; use any type of milk for a richer cocoa
1/4 cup, plus one teaspoon unsweetened cocoa
1/4 cup coconut or date sugar
1/2 tsp xanthan gum powder
1/4 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Pinch of Himalayan sea salt
Method of Prep
- Place all the ingredients into a medium sized saucepan.
- Over medium-high heat bring the mixture to a simmer, whisking often.
- Your cocoa is ready to serve when all the ingredients have come together to give you a creamy smooth hot cocoa.
- Pour in mugs and enjoy!
